The conference will be dedicated to the sustainable improvement of the built heritage, a research area that has grown significantly over the last 10 years and that is currently gaining even more momentum. With a focus on “Renovating historic buildings for a low carbon built heritage”, the conference will foster a multidisciplinary dialogue between scholars and practitioners working in the fields of energy efficiency and historic building conservation with the aim of finding together the solutions that will bring our common heritage into a sustainable future.

SBE21 Heritage warmly welcomes contributions from different research fields. We are looking forward to receiving submissions covering best practices of energy retrofit in the built heritage sector, conservation-compatible solutions, methodologies for a multidisciplinary design process with a focus on regional development and the Alpine Space in particular, and policy and decision–making tools and guidelines.
