Curriculum for sustainable public procurement

The proCURE curriculum supports public administration schools and higher education institutions in integrating the topic of sustainable public procurement into the training of future municipal administrative staff in a practical way. Public procurement is an important lever for implementing sustainability effectively at municipal level – from environmental criteria and social responsibility to economic efficiency.

The curriculum provides a structured overview of the different learning units and the corresponding teaching materials. The modules can either be integrated into existing courses and lectures as a complete, coherent unit or used flexibly as individual modules. This allows the curriculum to be adapted to different training programmes, timeframes and levels of prior knowledge among participants. The materials are designed so that each module can be completed over a period of two weeks in two sessions of 1.5 hours each; when individual modules are selected, they include brief references to the other thematic areas.

The materials provided on this website are aimed in particular at teachers, lecturers and training coordinators at public administration schools. They provide a basis for raising awareness among future municipal administrative staff about sustainable procurement, conveying specialist knowledge and preparing them for practical application in everyday municipal administration work.

In addition to the introduction and explanation of the proCURE curriculum, the corresponding modules, teaching materials and supplementary documents are available for download. They can be used directly in teaching or adapted to specific local and institutional requirements.
